Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is physical exfoliation facial treatment using a medical blade to clear away the dead skin cells which encourage your complexion to look dull and clogged. Dermaplaning gently reveals a bright, smooth complexion and clears the way so skin peels, facials, skin products and serums can get down into the skin where they work better, rather than sitting on the skin’s surface. It also removes peach fuzz/vellus hair to create a soft, smooth surface for flawless makeup application.

How does it work?
Dermaplaning uses a surgical blade to perform a deep, controlled exfoliation. The edge of the blade is used at a 45-degree angle to scrape the build-up of dirt and oils in and around the skin and vellus hair. The peach fuzz/vellus hair is also completely removed during the process leaving skin ultra-smooth and creating the perfect base for make-up application.

What happens during a treatment?
The dermaplaning procedure is then methodically carried out working the whole face one area at a time. After the dermaplaning is complete we will apply a combination of aftercare and SPF. The treatment is completely pain-free and no downtime is required.

How often can I have this?
Dermaplaning treatment can be carried out every 3-4 weeks and removal of peach fuzz/vellus hair and dead skin can be achieved with a single treatment. By removing the barrier of hair, oils, dirt and dry skin it enables increased penetration of products and  improved efficiency of treatments meaning quicker, better results.

What results will I get?
Dermaplaning is the ultimate glow treatment, skin is instantly ultra-smooth, glowing and refreshed, When combined with other therapies results are amplified. Dermaplaning is three times as effective as microdermabrasion alone and creates the perfect base for makeup application.

Why should I add in Celluma LED Light Therapy?
When Celluma LED is added to any treatment, it takes it to completely new heights.  It enhances any treatment, is anti-ageing, anti-inflammatory, healing, improves texture, improves firmness and stimulates ATP for cell regeneration. It kick starts the production of collagen and elastin.

Why should I add in Vitamin C Brightening Mask?
Because it adds a little bit of luxury! Calming, soothing, brightening and hydrating.

Are there side effects?
Dermaplaning is a very safe procedure and has been popular since the 1950’s Hollywood days. Skin is held safely taught during the procedure and the blade is always held at a 45-degree angle to minimise the risk of nicking the skin. If you have dry patches of skin, a small amount of serum is applied to enable to the blade to glide across the skin smoothly. Skin may be a little pink immediately after treatment but this normally subsides within an hour or so. As with any skin treatment, any underlying blemishes will be brought to the surface where they will heal and pass quickly. Peach fuzz/vellus hair has not been found to come back thicker and stronger. It will grow back at exactly the same rate, thickness and texture as before. A lot of our clients choose dermaplaning for peach fuzz hair removal and enjoy the exfoliation as a secondary bonus!

For those with areas of heavier hair growth, this will be discussed during your treatment.

Why should I come to you?
Although (sadly) not required for dermaplaning treatments, we are local government licensed to offer treatments which utilise needles and blades. We work in a clinical environment, specialising in electrolysis and advanced skin treatments, and have all the prerequisite certification, hygiene, clinical waste and sharps removal contracts in place.
