Connie Weir Hypnotherapy & Psychotherapy
I completed an Honours Degree in Psychology in 1992 followed by several years working in management for the aviation industry, where I also completed a Commercial Pilot’s Licence. I then studied Clinical Hypnotherapy with The London College of Clinical Hypnosis and obtained my Diploma. After a long standing interest in Bulimia (an area I had researched at University) I completed a Diploma in Counselling for Eating Disorders with National Centre for Eating Disorders in London.
My 12 years in aviation has lent itself to a particular interest in flying phobias; my university years led me to further study in eating disorders; and my passion for the game of squash combined with the fact that I live with a former Olympic skier has sparked my studies in sports performance.
This led to a masterclass with John Edgette – a renowned sports performance consultant and hypnotherapist in the US.
I am a member of The British Psychological Society and The British Society of Clinical Hypnosis who have a very strict Code of Ethics which is available for inspection at consultations. Client confidentiality is always assured.
My Clinical Interests are –
Stress and Anxiety
Smoking and Habits
Q: How many sessions will I need?
A: It depends on the issue but generally:
Stop smoking – 1session
Weight control – 1-3 sessions
Phobias – 3 sessions
Habits (nail biting, hair pulling etc) – 1-2 sessions
Anxiety & Stress – variable
Q: Does it work?
A: Ok, it’s not a magic wand! However, with habits it is probably the most successful method around and I have a 75-80% success rate with smoking cessation. Phobias are another area with a great success statistic and with anxiety and stress issues – there is a huge range of techniques available to use. I always tailor the session to the individual’s needs.
Q: Will I lose control?
A: Not at all and not even if you are very deeply relaxed. You are in control throughout the session.
Q: Can I drive afterwards?
A: Yes you will be fully awake afterwards.
Q: Are you qualified?
A: Yes. I have an Honours Degree in Psychology, a Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy and a Diploma in Counselling for Eating Disorders. My practice is fully regulated.
