Dermaplaning is physical exfoliation facial treatment using a medical blade to clear away the dead skin cells which encourage your complexion to look dull and clogged. Dermaplaning gently reveals a bright, smooth complexion and clears the way so skin peels, facials, skin products and serums can get down into the skin where they work better, rather than sitting on the skin’s surface.
It also removes peach fuzz/vellus hair to create a soft, smooth surface for flawless makeup application.
How does it work?
Dermaplaning uses a surgical blade to perform a deep, controlled exfoliation. The edge of the blade is used at a 45-degree angle to scrape the build-up of dirt and oils in and around the skin and vellus hair. The peach fuzz/vellus hair is also completely removed during the process leaving skin ultra-smooth and creating the perfect base for make-up application.
What happens during a treatment?
The skin is double-cleansed to create a clear canvas for treatment. It is then degreased using a specialised skin prep solution and an enzyme mask applied to further prepare the skin for the dermaplaning.
The dermaplaning procedure is then methodically carried out working the whole face one area at a time. After the dermaplaning is complete we will apply a combination of hyaluronic mask, serum and SPF. The treatment is completely pain-free and no downtime is required.
Are there side effects?
Dermaplaning is a very safe procedure and has been popular since the 1970’s. Skin is held safely taught during the procedure and the blade is always held at a 45-degree angle to minimise the risk of nicking the skin. If you have dry patches of skin, a small amount of serum is applied to enable to the blade to glide across the skin smoothly. Skin may be a little pink immediately after treatment but this normally subsides within an hour or so. As with any skin treatment, any underlying blemishes will be brought to the surface where they will heal and pass quickly
Peach fuzz/vellus hair has not been found to come back thicker and stronger. It will grow back at exactly the same rate, thickness and texture as before. A lot of our clients choose dermaplaning for peach fuzz hair removal and enjoy the exfoliation as a secondary bonus!
For those with areas of heavier hair growth, this will be discussed and taken into account during your treatment.
How often can I have this
